2020Census.gov: The students will be watching a video about the census and reading a Scholastic News article about it this week. If you haven't taken the census this would be a good time to complete it and have your child sit with you while you fill it out. It only take 3 minutes to answer the questions but it does bring a lot of money into our state for education and other programs.
Remember you can pick up breakfast and lunch M-F at Green Valley HS or Del Sol HS between 8-11:00 am. You don't need to have your child with you when picking up the bags of food. If you don't have a way to pick it up please let me know.
Things to do this week:
Google Classroom: Book Report Project (Try to have your book read and the project completed by this Friday)
Scholastic News: I assigned the magazine and quiz last Friday. I know several of you already did them but I also assigned two videos to watch and some Close-Reading questions to answer. This should be completed by this Friday as well.
Reading: Read for 30 minutes each day and remember to take AR quizzes when you finish a book.
Science: Mystery Science has a lot of resources and lessons that you can do from home.
Math: Our focus this week is still working on Area and Perimeter. Draw rectangles and label the length and width with different numbers. Next, you will multiply the Length x width to find the area. A= L x W. Remember area will be measured in square (units, feet, inches, centimeters, etc.) For finding the perimeter you will be adding up all of the sides of your shape. For Example: Draw a quadrilateral with each side having a different length. Then add up the side to find the perimeter. Do this 5 times making the shapes all different with different side lengths.
Xtramath: Do 3 sessions a day working on multiplication and division facts. I am adding division practice for all of you to work on as well. Remember division is the opposite of multiplication.
Mathfactcafe.com. is a great resource for you to practice your facts on the flashcard section. You can also print off worksheets to work on too.
Math-drills.com: Also has math worksheets that you can print off 100 multiplication facts and time yourself for 5 minutes.
Measuring: Remember to keep practicing measurement to the nearest 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch. This time find 10 toys to measure and record their lengths. Let me know of 3 things that you measured.
Don't forget to email me each day letting me know what you did and what new thing you learned. I miss all of you so much!
